Disney is slowly making it a habit to turn their most animated classics into live-action movies. The world is still divided over this particular topic. Should animated movies be turned into live-action movies? Personally speaking, I don’t like the idea. Anyway, after Beauty and the Beast, and The Jungle Book it’s time for a live-action Aladdin movie.
A teaser of the movie is already out, and it looks decent at first glance. A lot of people would definitely want to watch the movie as soon as they can. Aladdin is going to be released on May 24, 2019. The update is a bit far away but, I’m sure the fans will find something else to keep them busy for the time being.
Moving on to the cast of the movie. The role of Aladdin will be played by Mena Massoud. Mena got the role after fending off strong competition in Dev Patel and Riz Ahmed. Meanwhile, Naomi Scott will Princess Jasmine. Will Smith will play the role of Genie. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that Will Smith’s performance will be pivotal for the success of the movie. Here is the rest of the cast:
Marwan Kenzari as Jafar
Numan Acar as Hakim
Will Smith as Genie
Nasim Pedrad as Mara
Billy Magnussen will play one of the suitors of Princess Jasmine.
Guy Ritchie is working off a screenplay which has been done by John August. John August is known for his combination of action with fantasy. He has previously worked on Tim Burton’s 2005 remake Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 2003’s Big Fish, Charlies Angels, and the sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle
Disney will be looking forward to Marc Platt’s help when it comes to music for the movie. Marc Platt is currently working on Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns.
