New Amsterdam is an American medical TV show which is based on the book called as Twelve Patients: Life and Death at Bellevue Hospital which is written by Eric Manheimer. This show first premiered on 25th September 2018 on NBC. David Schulner created this series, and it had a total of 22 episodes. The cast includes stars like Ryan Eggold, Freema Agyeman, Janet Montgomery, Jocko Sims, Anupam Kher, and Tyler Labine.
Moreover, it was announced in February 2019 that the series would be renewed for a second season. The co-presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment, Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta said: “It’s thrilling to come out of the gate this season with a series that has resonated so well with audiences.”
Also, he added, “The show hits the sweet spot of the NBC brand — positively, emotion and incredible storytelling. A huge thank you to our fantastic cast, executive producers, Universal Television, and everyone who has worked so hard in getting the show off to such a terrific start.”
The story of this TV show’s revolves around Dr. Max Goodwin, who is the medical director of one of the United States’ oldest public hospitals. He is aiming to change and improve the mistreated facility by ripping up its organization to provide patients better treatment. The plot of the second season is unknown but writer/director, Eggold said “If we have the opportunity to continue then I would love to have the opportunity to maybe even write one if David would allow me to crash his writers’ room. They do such a great job so I would try to live up to what they are doing.” This TV series has a lot of fans base and still making it to this day; there is no doubt that there will be a second season. If, so I think it will release before the end of this year.
