Fallout 76 during its release was badly received by player and critics alike. The players were angry and controversies around the game kept on going. And during the Bethesda E3 2019, the developers accepted that they heard the criticism and accepted their fault. After that, they said that they are going to release many updates for this game. This games one of the many faults in that it doesn’t have NPCs, the story was scarce, and players weren’t given enough tools so that they can meaningfully take up such roles. Not only this, Fallout 76 made it’s PvP-centric experience a living hell.
Now Bethesda is ready to release an update for Fallout 76, and it is said to be a big one. It was told by Howard that the game would be getting a free Wastelanders update which will be NPCs, a new main quest, choices and consequences, and new weapons as well gear to the game. It was explained by Bethesda that “This is a long term story we’re telling. Year one was about the vault doors opening, and all of you are settling the wasteland. Year two is about people coming back to reclaim it. Like previous Fallout games, these characters have their own stories and goals. It’s up to you to decide how to interact with them and live with those consequences.”
During the preview shown, players could go on a quest with NPCs. They could also fight alongside them, have conversations with them as well there would be certain dialogue options required statistics such as perception and charisma. This update will be coming this fall to all the Fallout 76 players for free. Bethesda further explained in a blog post what will be the role of these NPCs. There are going to be two factions called the Raiders and the Settlers, both of these are trying to take over Appalachia. Both of the faction will have their own stories, and the player will earn great rewards when they are completed, such as weapons and armor. The choices the player makes will decide how their stories will go.
Moreover, the update will come with additional content, which is a Battle Royal mode. This mode is called Nuclear Winter in which the Vault dwellers have to fight against each other by building shelters, shooting at one another, and seemingly dropping nukes. The last one standing will become the overseer of vault 51. This mode will have 52 players in a single match, and the player will be able to level up with the help of exclusive perks. Players can play Fallout 76 on a free trial, and the trial will run from June 10 – 17.
