The action-thriller comedy Game Night was a huge hit in 2018. Starting Jason Bateman and Rachel McAdams in lead roles, the comedy dealt with a story of couple Max and Annie, who try to solve the mystery of Max’s missing brother Brooks, who disappears during their Game Night.

Game Night was directed by the filmmaker’s duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. From what we here, the coveted pair are currently in talks with Paramount to direct Dungeons & Dragons movie reboot. Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy- role-playing game, which was also made into a movie thrice, in the years 2000, 2005 and 2012, though the 2000’s box office movie became a major misfire in the 2000s.

First published in 1974, Dungeons & Dragons redefined the era of role-playing games back in the day. The game has gone on to be quoted in major pop-culture shows and all. In 2015, however, Warner Bros. made a plan to reboot the movie reboot with Ansel Elgort and Rob Letterman directing. Things didn’t happen the way they were, and the reboot moved over to Paramount in 2017.

Sweetpea Entertainment and Hasbro have struck a deal over the sequel rights of D&D. Chris McKay (The Lego Movie) was supposed attached to direct the film in February 2018, but he too steps away from the project. Fresh reports say that John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are in talks to direct the D&D reboot. A much less known writer Michael Grillo is working on the script.

Daley and Goldstein were members of the Hasbro Film Universe writing team, since the very beginning, since Paramount and Hasbro’s Allspark Pictures was announced in April 2016. The duo first made their debut in 2015 with Vacation reboot and scripted Spider-Man: Homecoming for the MCU.

D&D became a surprise hit and Daley/Goldstein very well demonstrated their visual flair and creativity. D&D is amongst the three fantasy adventures (Thor: Love and Thunder, with Fantastic Beasts 3) currently scheduled to arrive on November 2021. There’s still a fat chance that the project may be shifted here and there by Paramount yet again.
