Shenmue 3 is a game that is awaited by many people. It has been delayed a couple of times and now it has been delayed again. It has been delayed more than twice and it was first expected to be released at the end of 2017 to the second half of 2018 to 2019, eventually settled to August 27. In a statement, Deep Silver wrote “We feel that the extra time we have will help us deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve! We thank you for your patience and understanding,”
The company, Deep Silver reiterated in a follow-up tweet that Shenmue 3 is “almost ready” but it needs s little more work. They said that they apologize if this disappoints the fans and hope they can understand they are endeavoring to ensure the game is polished before release. Three-month delay isn’t minor when it has been for two years of prior delay but it is pretty interesting that the developers chose the release date in the middle of the holiday season
It might be because everyone is buying games at that time of year but many games get released that time of year. It would be bad for Shenmue’s sales as many other AAA games mostly come out at that time of year. Some of those games are Death Stranding and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Moreover, the Modern Warfare reboot which arguably the biggest thing to happen in the Call of Duty series in many years which will be arriving on 25 October.
