At the end of Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4, we got to see something that I don’t think anyone of us expected. In an episode which has been heavily criticized by the fans online, we got to see not one but two questionable deaths. Both of them make you wonder if they’re a bit too forced, and in my opinion, they certainly appeared to be that way.
The first one was that of Rhaegal. I think it is obvious to point out that Euron ambushing Rhaegal out of nowhere doesn’t make much sense. He should’ve been seen from the sky easily, and if he was hiding, he shouldn’t have been able to hit Rhaegal. Even if he hit him, Dragons are almost invulnerable to any aerial attacks. The only known dragon to ever fall with a scorpion bolt is Meraxes, and he fell because of a one in a million shot that hit him in the eye. Dragon scales are tougher than the writers think they are.
Moving on to Missandei’s death, I think how she was captured in the first place was very weird. I don’t have problems with her death, but everything was very rushed to me, and by the end of the episode, we saw Daenerys’ heart going cold. So, are we doing to see Mad Dany in the next episode of Game of Thrones?
While I would hate for that to happen without any buildup and all of a sudden here, I have to say that it looks like that’s the direction in which the show is heading. Daenerys Targaryen going mad also seems to fit some leaks about the last two episodes of the show.
Warning: Spoilers beyond this point
According to the most believable leaks that are available right now, Dany will completely destroy King’s Landing and kill hundreds of civilians in the process. She will have many people executed, such as Varys, and other lords as well. She’ll take the throne, but at the cost of everyone losing faith in her and descending into madness. This will eventually lead to Jon Snow killing her.
We cannot speak for the accuracy of the spoilers, and for the sake of the show, we hope they’re fake. Right now, it looks Dany is inevitably going mad.
