Alicia is a world governed by “Count”: numbers engraved on a person’s body, representing any number related to their life. These Counts determine a person’s social status and power in Alicia. If a Count reaches zero, the person is sent to the Abyss, a place rumored to be worse than death. Hina, a traveler whose Count is based on the distance she traveled, witnessed her mother get dragged down into the Abyss. Determined to fulfill her mother’s last wishes, she sets off on a journey in search of the legendary Aces—heroes of the war that happened three hundred years ago, bearing a white star next to their Count.

While wandering around, Hina encounters Licht Bach, a mysterious masked man with a negative Count, and Nana, the owner of a tavern. While having a good time, Hina is tricked into a battle with a military soldier. However, despite his negative count, Licht rescues Hina and reveals that he has another count, one with a white star, one of a legendary Ace. Plunderer follows the journey of Hina and other inhabitants of Alicia as they discover the truth about their world, the Abyss, and the legendary Aces.

Anime Review

This anime is based on the original manga and it is an agreeably good adaptation. It is enjoyable to watch and the concept for the main hero is quite good and there is a lot of twist in it. The main character is overpowered, senseless & pervert but slowly things get serious the anime also includes funny ecchi scenes and good romance as well. But after watching a few episodes I found it very similar to “The Seven Deadly Sins”, to a certain extent, as both of the main characters are overpowered and pervert, but the anime is mind-blowing & perfectly to the point.

If you compare it with Seven Deadly sins the plot in Seven Deadly Sins is outstanding but especially the back story of the main character is not explained in the first two seasons which personally I found sluggish. It’s not the same here, the character’s back story and motive behind the enemy are well told that’s what I really liked and also there is a good tease for the second season in the last episode. So what makes this anime different, it is those numbers and ballots, after every fight or challenge between the participants one who gets defeated the numbers on their body are taken by Althing, the plunderer is a world ruled by numbers.

Everyone has a number that’s recognized from birth to work on some objectives like ‘distance walked’, ’total kills’, and it goes up and down depending on how well they accomplish their purpose. Reaching 0 means death, and anyone with a higher ‘number’ than another has the authority to order them around.

Every ace has a unique ability and each ability is given by the enemy itself, what is the intention of the enemy and why did he share his powers, how is this world created, what is Althing, everything is hidden and I’m super excited to know, right now I don’t know exactly how to explain how great this series is without spoiling it, so I highly recommend you to check it out for yourself! You won’t be disappointed!
