My Hero Academia has been enjoying a very solid arc so far and we’ve been getting a lot of Shigaraki’s backstory lately. It seems this week’s chapter is going to continue to do that, while also giving us glimpses of the present and we’re very excited to see that. Shigaraki has gone through a lot in his childhood as we’ve seen, and there’s no doubt that his upbringing led to him going down the wrong path. However, what is done is done now and there’s no changing it.
This week’s chapter will cement how Shigaraki became evil in the first place, and that means we’ll see more of All For One as well. With that, let’s get into the chapter’s contents and discuss what it is all out.
Before we begin, please note this post may contain official spoilers from the next chapter of the manga. If being spoiled is not for you, I suggest that you stop reading the post here. However, if spoilers don’t bother you, we can get started. Also, note that we did not create the spoilers or leaked them. They’re available all over the internet.
My Hero Academia Chapter 237 Review: Shigaraki Tomura’s Origin
So it turns out that we begin My Hero Academia chapter 237 with Tenko’s continued flashback and it seems he runs away from his home after murdering everyone. Nobody notices him and everyone scoffs at how someone will help him, yet nobody has the will to do so. Here, Shigaraki wonders to himself that the itch he has would’ve definitely gotten better had someone reached out to him, but nobody did and that’s why he is the way he is now.
Tenko soon meets someone and he is told that his urge to destroy is overflowing and causing his itchiness. He is told to let loose, and that it all depends on him.
He destroys a hand and says that he is going to destroy those who strike him. In doing so, he takes his first steps towards becoming a Villain. All For One and the doctor make their appearance and are very impressed at this. AFO gives Tenko the two people’s hands as a present. He has the four hands plus one to replace the one he destroyed before. He then shows what he looks like with all the hands on.
The origin of his name is also explained in this manga chapter. We’re told that ‘Tomura’ is from funeral, burial, condolence, and Shigaraki is AFO’s last name.
Towards the end of the chapter, Shigaraki destroys his father hand, and finally awakens to true evil. As expected, it is a very solid My Hero Academia chapter and I think everyone is going to enjoy reading it.
My Hero Academia Chapter 237 drops on July 28, 2019. The scans will be out by July 25, 2019.
