IGN has just dropped an official behind-the-scenes clip titled “Silent Hill: Ascension An Inside Look,” giving us an eerie glimpse into Genvid Entertainment’s upcoming “interactive streaming series” game project. The game is set to make a grand debut this year, but the exact release date remains unknown.
“An Inside Look,” along with Stephan Bugaj from Pixar and Telltale, Martin Montgomery from Riot and Telltale, and Shiaw-Ling Lai from Wizards of the Coast and Telltale, spill the beans on the game’s insights, paired with the exciting announcement of Cevin Key as the game’s new music composer.
The team also promises further information in the upcoming months, including the release date, where to watch and participate, and even opportunities to be part of the show’s cast. Genvid, Behaviour Interactive of Dead by Daylight, J.J. Abrams’s Bad Robot Games, and the game-to-TV/film adaptation experts at dj2 Entertainment are working on Silent Hill: Ascension.
The Silent Hill franchise is a wildly popular game series developed by Konami. This spine-tingling franchise introduced players to a small and ordinary town, or what we thought, enveloped in an otherworldly aura. Little did we know there were nightmares hidden behind the screen, waiting for us to click ‘Start.’

Silent Hill – Time for Interaction
“It is you who will decide the fate of multiple main characters, which will unfold simultaneously around the globe,” said Motoi Okamoto, a producer on the Silent Hill series at Konami.
Controlling a part of a game’s lore is, no doubt, insanely exciting, and that’s exactly what Ascension is set out to do. An interactive horror game could really shake the gaming industry, which is currently going through a dry spell.
Ascension is the latest installment in the long-running Silent Hill game series developed by Konami. With a Silent Hill experience like no other, the game will feature new, uncharted, and never seen Behind-the-Sceneslocations along with new characters in the series. Are you ready to be the master of the main character’s fate? Or is that too much to handle?
CEO Jacob Navok spoke about the upcoming game, stating that it delves into the “intergenerational trauma of characters spanning the globe.” But here’s where it got interesting: viewers themselves will have the power to shape the story in real-time as the stream unfolds.
Powered by Amazon’s IVS backend for Twitch, this innovative “stream can run anywhere Twitch runs.” Navok claimed that the players can guide the characters’ stories through missions and puzzles, directly impacting their mental states. The “canonical ending” will be in the player’s hands.
“When we talk about [how], we actually don’t know how the show is going to end, and we mean that,” Navok continued. Since the audience will be choosing the end, it’s difficult for the team to know what’s going to happen, so multiple main characters will be released in the game.
He also stated that if the audience collectively fails to save a character through any sequence, that character will wake up with “reduced hope,” which will lead them to their deaths.
In previous Silent Hill games, we play as the main character and reset till we make it to the end of the game. However, in Ascension, if a main character is on the path to death and their hope is reduced, there is no reset button to save us this time. That particular character will die and will permanently be out of the storyline. Hence, the multiple MCs to see who really survives the horrors of this game.
The game can be streamed on the official Ascension website, but Navok also plans to build apps and consoles for the game, which can be streamed anywhere Netflix has access. “So wherever you will be watching it on your TV, on your PC, on your phone, it will work there, said Navok.
Silent Hill: Ascension is one of several exciting developments in Konami, reviving the long-dormant psychological horror franchise. Alongside Ascension, the remake of Silent Hill 2, a fresh and improved entry known as Silent Hill f, and the awaited Silent Hill: Townfall was announced during the Silent Hill Transmission live stream last year.
