So, the Netflix audience, along with the television following audience started asking whether there will be a ninth season or not. However, she said that they all have discussed and decided to conclude the show.

The Vampire Diaries Season 9 Update

As of March 12, 2020, there is no new development on whether there will be a ninth season of Vampire Diaries or not, but we do have some details about its spin-off show Legacies. We have seen a lot of crossovers in the first season of Legacies with Vampire Diaries, but nobody knows how will the second season go. However, if you have not found a reason to watch Legacies even if you are a Vampire Diaries fan, you might get one ahead.

We saw Bonnie and Damon stuck together, and that was the reason they were together. They were not good together until it happened, and we are supposed to see something similar with Hope and Clarke next season, which might resemble your Vampire Diaries scenes. Also, there are rumors of Caroline joining the cast in the next season, where even Matt Davis wanted Julie Plec on the show! If it happens, I am sure it would be a happy moment for all the Vampire Diaries fans.

The Vampire Diaries Season 9 Cast Update

On top of that, Ian Somerhalder, who played Damon Salvatore in the show, has also denied playing the character again. He even joked that he might not be able to play the youthful vampire anymore. Also, Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena Gilbert and Paul Wesley, who stars as Stefan Salvatore have also refused to play the characters again.

Moreover, Julie Plec has also discarded all the rumors about the Damon Salvatore spin-off. She said that she is not working on any spin-off, but she was positive about something related in the future. Nonetheless, we have already seen a spin-off called The Originals.

Additionally, many believe that the writer and a few actors’ absences might not cancel the show. The argument seems reasonable as there is no confirmation from The CW about the cancellation. When Somerhalder said that Vampire Diaries season 8 would be the end of the series, he had to apologize. Then he stated that he would be leaving the show, but the show might continue! Hence, there is still hope for the ninth season, at least until The CW does not respond.

I was a movie and TV freak since childhood. I always loved to share my opinions with people about the same, so here I am, sharing my knowledge and opinions about everything I know! I do not remember when was the last time I spent a day without watching a TV show or movie. You can contact me at

  1. When Ian Somerhalder guilt the Show that was the End of the Vampire Diaries. Without Ian there is no Damon Salvatore, He made that Character in to the most iconic character ever.

    1. I agree with her but I’m my opinion I like Damon , Stephen and Elena but if you making a ninth season with out the original character it won’t be the same I rather have the same people who played the role. With out them their is no point watching it.Cause of them we fell in love with this show.

  2. Hope they continue the movie without going for the spin-off,,I would love to see they two brothers as the main characters especially lan,,I don’t even like the finale there are too many unclear pictures that needs explanation.
