While Marvel is buzzing into a new direction with the upcoming slate of movies starting with Wanda Vision on January 15th,2021, which sets the traditional superhero story behind and gives the upcoming superheroes a new verdict. Wanda Vision, which was screened for the critics, has already got huge praise for the experimentation and new direction Marvel Cinematic Universe is going in under Kevin Feige’s leadership. While Marvel keeps teasing us with new developments and plans, here is Frank Grillo is also known as Brock Rumlow from the Captain America: Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War, taking a look back at a crazy stunt he did during his time on the second installment of Captain America and how Scarlett Johansson convinced him to do so.
Captain America: Winter Soldier was one of the few Marvel movies that have used the lowest amount of visuals and were close to real action adventure by the studios. Thus it was one of the movies where stuntmen and actors were required to pull off great efforts. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is considered the best among the trilogy because of its more mature and darker take on the plot and the dynamic characters. On the other hand, the movie also marked the entry of the director duo Anthony and Joe Russo, who further went on to direct the third installment of Captain America along with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, making them one of the most high-profile directors in the entertainment industry today.
So here is everything Frank Grillo had to say about his stunt, which Scarlett Johansson convinced him to do, and he s—- his pants in doing so on the second installment of Captain America.
Frank Grillo Reminiscing The Stunt Convinced By Scarlett Johansson
Recently Frank Grillo sat on an interview with Collider and remembered one of the stunts he performed in the first ten minutes with his co-actor Scarlett Johansson who played the role of ever-popular Black Widow. Grillo, who played the role of Brock Rumlow, quoted that they were doing the second installment of Captain America and were on Long Beach where they were 150 feet above sea level, followed by a crane plus a crane more than 150 feet above. So far, you can tell it’s like 300 feet above sea level. So, Grillo explained that they had clip into a crane, and the film crew was set to drop them so that Grillo and his co-actors would look like they are flying onto the boat.
Grillo stated that he wasn’t going to do it and asked the crew to let his stuntman do it, followed by Scarlett Johansson, who quoted that she is going to do it and she did it; thus, Grillo was forced to follow up. Grillo reminisced that he followed Johansson behind and jokingly exclaimed that he had s— in his pants because he was too afraid to execute the stunt; plus, on the other hand, it was pitch black.
Grillo accepted that he likes to do the usual rumble more, including his fighting scenes and driving scenes. Grillo quoted that he mostly fights and does all his fighting on his own and also driving unless he is told to drive off from something. He also tries not to jump too much and doesn’t like jumping off too much.
So, looking at Grillo’s explanation, we can’t ignore how tough it is to perform in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s movies adhering to the action sequences and visuals they portrayed for years. Actors at certain times tend to use stunt doubles more to avoid injuries on sets, and even months of training can sometimes till be proved dangerous with one wrong move, and everything goes down. Let’s not forget the time when Robert Downey Jr. broke his ankle while filming Iron Man 3, and the movie was held for three weeks until it started resuming again.
Also, we have to applaud Scarlett Johansson as she did the stunt without hesitation plus, she has proved her worth every time she is onscreen in Marvel movies, which have led her to her own solo movie titled Black Widow, arriving in 2021. Marvel Cinematic Universe, in a way, was always empty without Johnasson’s character Black Widow which will forever remain a vital part of the entire superhero franchise. We will keep you updating on upcoming Marvel projects, including the likes of Wanda Vision, Loki, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and many more, so stay tuned to Otakukart News.
