Pet Sematary is a well-known book by the author Stephen King. The original movie aired in 1989 and 2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the Pet Sematary film. The original movie just released on DVD and Blu-ray. Pet Sematary has been adapted into a movie by writer Jeff Buhler and directors Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer. There’s a second trailer release that happened recently that gives away some of the plot details that audiences have on Pet Sematary. In the original movie, the plot kicks off when Louis and Rachel Creed lose their son, 2-year-old Gage. Gage is killed by a monster truck. Louis and Rachel are both indecisive as to whether to bring back Gage to life. They utilize the mysterious powers of an ancient burial ground near his house to bring their cat back. And of course, to bring Gage back. The plot twist is when Gage doesn’t come back the same. The consequences of Gage’s resurrection are bloody to the day the least.
But in the 2019 movie, older sister Ellie is the one who’s hit by a monster truck. Director Dennis Widmyer explained this change in the plot as substantive. The death of an order child adds psychological layers to the narrative. Ellie understands what she becomes, but Cage was unaware in the novel as well as the book.
The movie’s runtime is 101-minutes. Pet Sematary is out in UK cinemas on April 4, 2019, and US cinemas on April 5, 2019.
