Princess Diaries is one of the best films when it comes to the teen comedy segment, and it is based on Meg Cabot’s novel of the same name released in 2000. The movie series stars Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews as the main roles of Mia and Clarisse, while the other supporting cast members include Héctor Elizondo, Heather Matarazzo, Mandy Moore, Caroline Goodall, and Robert Schwartzman. While the third film was not having much to announce, we heard Hathaway confirming that there is a script for Princess Diaries 3 back in January 2019.
She said, “There is a script for the third movie… There is a script,” “I want to do it. Julie wants to do it. Debra Martin Chase, our producer, wants to do it. We all really want it to happen. It’s just we don’t want to unless it’s perfect because we love it just as much as you guys love it. It’s as important to us as it is to you, and we don’t want to deliver anything until it’s ready, but we’re working on it, so..,” she explained in detail.

Princess Diaries 3 will be released sometime in 2020, this is an expected update. Because Hathaway looks positive, she also confirmed that everyone is agreed to return to the fan-favorite characters, and it would come out soon if they all agree on the script. Hence, we might not have to wait for a long period, and 2020 might be the year when we see the third film of Princess Diaries franchise.
The film would also be a tribute to Garry Marshall, the director of the previous two Princess Diaries films, who died in 2016. The director was planning the third film before he died, and the film would be remembering him by completing his dream project! If it does get renewed in the year of 2020, it looks like it will not be releasing in 2020, for now, the coronavirus pandemic has halted all the productions and filming of the majority of the show around the world, and it would not be shocking of it is the same for the Princess Diaries. If everything goes as planned, we are looking at a 2021for Princess Diaries 3.

Hathaway and Andrews, both have are yet to sign the rumored spin-offs, which is new project by the new streaming service Disney+, as of now there are no new updates on Princess Diaries 3. Hathaway and Andrews, both would like to continue the franchise, Hathaway also confirmed that there is a script in the works for Princess Diaries 3 but we received no new updates on the situation since then.
Disney+ is yet to make an official comment on the third part of Princess Diaries.
