Joss Whedon has done some astounding work over the years, and his latest project is The Nevers. The new series has been described as a science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who get some eccentric abilities, and they use their abilities to fight against enemies, and they undertake missions to protect the world.
HBO ordered The Nevers after winning the bidding war. Joss Whedon will be acting as director, wrote and executive producer. He will be joined by Doug Petrie and Jane Espenson on the writer team.
Quickly shifting our focus to the cast, there will some talented staff involved with the show. Laura Donnelly will play the role of Amalia True. Amalia has been described as the most reckless and emotionally damaged hero of her time. Laura Donnelly is known for her role as Jenny Fraser on Starz’s Outlander. We are still in the dark about the other cast members. HBO hasn’t confirmed who else is going to be a part of the show. We will have to be patient as the information is pretty scarce right now.
Whedon expressed his feelings about the partnership in July 2018. He said that he couldn’t be more excited about the partnership. He also said that The Nevers is probably his most ambitious series and he can’t imagine a better home for the show than HBO. Whedon was impressed by their understanding of his show. He said that he knows that HBO is one of the masters of long cinematic form. Whedon added that their analysis of his show was concise.
Whedon said, “It has been too long since I created an entirely new fictional world, and the HBO team offer not just scope and experience, not just ‘prestige,’ but a passionate collaboration. I could go on, but — I am impatiently grateful to say — I have work to do.”
