In the upcoming 37th issue of Shueisha’s Young Jump magazine, slated for release on August 10, Undead Girl Murder Farce author Yugo Aosaki and Toshimitsu Matsubara are set to release a new manga, titled “Gas-tō Norainu Tanteidan” (Gaslamp Stray Dog Detective Agency).
Penned by Aosaki and illustrated by Matsubara, the upcoming manga will treat readers to an opening color page and an 83-page inaugural chapter. Transporting us to late Victorian London, the story revolves around a “street urchin” whose life takes an unexpected turn following a significant incident.
Best known for his compelling storytelling and imagination, the author behind the gripping “Undead Girl Murder Farce” manga has once again blessed the manga world with a new piece of literature. This visionary creator has unveiled his latest creation, promising a fresh and thrilling journey through Victorian London.
As anticipation mounts and curiosity stirs, the premise of the manga seems to radiate a similar aura as Undead Murder Farce, with the dark gothic aesthetic set in a European location.

All About Undead Girl Murder Farce
Aosaki, the creator of the Undead Girl Murder Farce mystery novel series, debuted the series in December 2015, with the fourth volume hitting shelves on July 14. The series manga received an anime adaptation which debuted on July 5 and is currently ongoing.
The show, titled Undead Murder Farce in Japan, is streaming globally on Crunchyroll (excluding Asia), and has brought Aosaki’s intriguing world of mystery to a broader audience.
The anime is directed by Mamoru Hatakeyama and produced by Lapin Track. The series composition is handled by Noboru Takagi. Based on the original character designs, Noriko Itou oversees character design, accompanied by Naho Kozono as a sub-character designer and chief animation director. Music composition and sound directing are handled by Yuma Yamaguchi and Kazuhiro Wakabayashi, respectively.
The Plot
In 19th-century France, vampire noble Jean Duchet Godard’s wife is tragically murdered in the safety of her own house. Frustrated by incompetent human authorities, Godard employs the services of extraordinary private detectives: Tsugaru Shinuchi (a half-human, half-demon), holding a strange birdcage that harbors the head of Aya Rindow, and his partner, Shizuku Hasei.
Traveling from distant Japan, Tsugaru and Shizuku are on a mission to discover the criminal behind Aya’s stolen body and Tsugaru’s lost humanity.

Additionally, Phantom is voiced by Hiro Shimono, James Moriarty is voiced by Wataru Yokojima, Aleister Crowley is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, Carmilla is voiced by Reina Kondo, Victor is voiced by Itary Yamamoto and finally, Jack is voiced by Soma Saito.
Undead Girl Murder Farce is an enjoyable rendition of Cluedo, with layers of mysteries that add to the depth of the series. With an 8/10 rating for its story and characters on My Anime List, the series does a fantastic job of developing unique and imaginative characters that improve the narrative.
The series flawlessly animates gritty scenes with close attention to detail, earning an 8/10 for art and sound. The careful design of the characters’ attire and backgrounds adds to a visually pleasing experience. While day scenes are well-executed, the night scenes truly steal the spotlight, showing the effort of the creative staff. The show’s sound design and music quality undoubtedly increase the tension, improving the overall watch.
