The productions of The Little Mermaid Live was slated to begin in London at the beginning of 2020, however, due to the spread of Covid-19, the production was stopped indefinitely, and made Halle Bailey return to her home in Los Angeles. However, the star has provided the latest updates on the film, and according to her, the production will resume shortly and she is “very excited” about it. She also added that the entire cast would remain the same despite having schedule problems.

The original composer, Alan Menken has returned to the project, and Alan will be working alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda on the music department of the film. According to Miranda, they have produced 4 new songs for the movie, but rumors suggest that some of the original music will be included as well.
