Everyone in the gaming world was surprised when The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild 2 was revealed during the Nintendo Direct. Everyone lost there mind over this news, but there was a plan on creating a sequel to this legendary game. It is tough to decide when to create a sequel to a game that is very popular. But the producer, Eiji Aonuma, and his team knew the answer to that. They planned to first release a DLC for it but it too big for a simple DLC.
He told that the team had a lot of ideas for the DLC because of that the content kept on piling up until they realized DLC wasn’t enough. Aonuma said, “… When it comes down to technical things, DLC is pretty much data — you’re adding data to a preexisting title. And so when we wanted to add bigger changes, DLC is not enough, and that’s why we thought maybe a sequel would be a good fit.,”.
During the interview, he was asked if this was originally planned as DLC to which he responded “initially we were thinking of just DLC ideas, but then we had a lot of ideas, and we said, ‘This is too many ideas, let’s just make one new game and start from scratch.’” This isn’t the first time Nintendo has done this. They released the Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the year 2010, and that game too had begun its life as a series of new levels which was for the original Super Mario Galaxy and ultimately it was made into a full sequel.
The exact update of Breath of the Wild 2 is yet to be revealed, but it should be somewhat similar to other main Legend of Zelda games. Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask and The Wind Waker were all released with two years gaps between them. If I have to guess when this beautiful, as well as an amazing game, would come out, I would say in 2020.
