On August 1, the creative team behind the poker-themed anime “High Card” revealed exciting updates for its eagerly anticipated second season. Along with a promotional video, the reveal included a cast lineup, a production team, and the awaited premiere date set of January 2024.
Furthermore, the “High Card Project” is set to extend its reach with an upcoming stage play scheduled for the same month. Adding to the project’s resume, the serialization of the second novel, “HIGH CARD-♧3Green Green&♡5Calories High,” is slated to start in Monthly Newtype magazine on September 8.
Also, the upcoming season will bring back both, the talented cast and the creative staff, ensuring a seamless continuation of the series. The first season of the anime aired on the AT-X channel on January 9 before making its rounds on Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, and BS11.

High Card S2 Releases in 2024
High Card is a “Japanese multimedia franchise,” a brainchild of Homura Kawamoto, Hikaru Muno, and TMS Entertainment. Consisting of a manga and novel series, drama CDs, and an anime by Studio Hibari, which aired from January to March 2023, the franchise revolves around the exhilarating theme of poker.
Every aspect of “High Card,” from its name to the nomenclature of its imaginary location, is, in some way or form, related to the world of playing cards. The creators claimed that they drew inspiration from the Kingsman movies, setting the anime in a place beyond Japan’s borders, a move aimed at engaging a global audience.
The Staff
Publisher TMS Entertainment, brings a collaboration between author Homura Kawamoto, and his younger brother Hikaru Muno, to create this anime adaptation. The original character designs are handled by Ebimo. The anime is directed by Junichi Wada at Studio Hibari.
Overseeing the series’ scripts is Naoki Kuroyanagi, while the trio of Kenichi Yamashita, Kazuhiko Inukai, and Shingo Nagai are writing the scripts. The character design is handled by Nozomi Kawano, while the music is composed by Ryō Takahashi. TMS produces the anime.

The main cast includes Gen Sato voicing Finn Oldman, Toshiki Masuda voicing Chris Redgrave, Shun Horie voicing Leo Constantine Pinochle, Haruka Shiraishi voicing Wendy Satō, Yuichiro Umehara voicing Vijay Kumar Singh, Kazuhiro Yamaji voicing Bernard Symons, and Daisuke Ono voicing Theodore Constantine Pinochle.

The Plot of High Card
When street-smart Finn learns his beloved orphanage is on the brink of collapse, he hits the casino to score big and save the day. Finn stumbles into a high-octane car chase turned bloody showdown, all thanks to a so-called “lucky” card. Turns out, those cards aren’t just for poker games; they hold the key to unlocking superpowers.
Enter the High Card crew. With Fourland’s king calling the shots, they’re on a wild goose chase to collect these game-changing cards, all while moonlighting as luxury car makers, Pinochle. Finn joins forces with the High Card crew. But rivals Who’s Who and the infamous Klondikes, are hell-bent on destroying Pinochle.
The show of justice, revenge, and an epic climax is on its way, and it will leave you breathless.
