One of the best Japanese films, Josee to Tora to Sakana-Tachi is now coming in an anime movie adaptation this winter.
Jose to Tora to Sakana-Tachi is originally a short novel from Kadokawa shoubou which was published in 1984. Later, it made into a live-adaptation film in 2003 which is directed by Isshin Inudo.
The movie was so great that the director of Inudo received the Minister seat of Education New Director Award of Fine Art. Furthermore the leading male actor, Satoshi Tsumabuki won the best actor awards from Kinema Junpo from the Hochi Film Award. According to the Kinema Junpo poll of film critics, Josee to Tora to Sakana-Tachi was selected as 4the best Japanese film of the year.
The film was supposed to be released in the middle of 2020 but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now confirmed and set to release on December 25, 2020. On the other hand, a Korean remake is on its way as well with starring Nam Joo-Hyuk and Han Ji-min in leading roles.
Josee to Tora to Sakana-Tachi is a good tearjerker story, good for people who are into romance or genre. The live adaptation film in 2003 was quite good the anime is expected to be on tearjerker as well.
The story centers on two main characters a university student Tsuneo Suzukawa and a girl name Josee, who is physically disabled thus cannot walk without a wheelchair. Josee has spent her whole life in her imaginary world.
On one fateful an old woman asked Tsuneo to check on her granddaughter. After inspecting the pram, her granddaughter who he thought might be a baby is a young woman named Kumiko who is wielding a kitchen knife. And thus with this strange yet fateful encounter starts the story of Josee to Tora to Sakana-Tachi.
