The new sequel of the Karate Kid series is the ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5 whose teaser trailer has been launched by Netflix, giving its fans a glimpse into the world of martial arts with a little bit dose of comedy. Also, the date of the premiere of season 5 of Cobra Kai is September 9 of this year as announced in the trailer itself.
The premiere dates came as a surprise for the fans. Although the viewers were made aware of the completion of season 5 production at the end of season 4 in December 2021 itself, the release date coming this early was something out of expectation. This time, the viewers will see the rivalry kind of relationship between Daniel LaRusso and Terry Silver. This rivalry may be regarding the Empire created by Terry consisting of trained martial artists, as already hinted in the trailer. Cobra Kai: the series
Cobra Kai is an American comedy-drama based on martial arts. It is a story that revolves around the art of fighting, training, and trainers competing with each other in the annual championships. Cobra Kai is a television series based on The Karate Kid film franchise, which was a creation of Robert Mark Kamen. The series is the idea of Josh Heald, Hayden Schlossberg, and Jonathan Benjamin Hurwitz together.
It carries forward the saga of Karate Kid after a gap of more than 30 years. Its first two seasons were released on youtube. However, Netflix acquired it later with the first two seasons to stream them on its platform. The film stars Ralph George Macchio Jr. in the role of Daniel LaRusso and William Michael Zabka as Johnny Lawrence. Both of the lead characters are in their reprise roles from The Karate Kid movie 1984.
Season 4: Recap
Season four was all about the collaborations of different martial art academies for a competition. Initially, the Eagle Fang under Johnny and Miyagi-Do under Daniel were working together to beat the Cobra Kai under Terry. Later they part ways due to the clashing of their ideologies and some personal reasons. Later, they realize the power of their combined techniques and come together once again for the annual tournament.
Season four ends with Tory, a Cobra Kai student, beating Sam from Miyagi-Do in the 51st Annual All Valley Karate Championship. But later, she finds out that Terry has bribed the referee. Cobra Kai wins the overall match. Terry announces to start off his Cobra Kai franchise. Daniel vows to take the help of ‘Chozen’ to beat the Cobra Kai.
The Trailer
The trailer of Cobra Kai season 5 was released by Netflix on 5th May 2022. The trailer starts with a flashback of the last tournament where Tory is announced as the winner against Sam. Later we see how Terry is working on his goal of expanding his Cobra Kai and turning it into a franchise. He has a gym which he wants to advertise and open in it all parts of his city. The golden cobra seen in it is the logo of his gym. Terry’s ambition is also clear from his words as he says, “And the only thing better than a full dojo is a whole valley full of dojos.” Daniel is watching and explaining all this to a guy who probably is the Chozen one.
One of the scenes also shows the chosen confronting Terry. Terry says, ” You are playing with fire, Danny boy”, to which Danny boy replies “And I am gasoline”. The whole trailer will take you to the repeated flashbacks from time to time. There are even some analogies made to the current situations, with the scenes from both Karate kid-II and Karate Kid-III.
