Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 is almost upon us, and I don’t think anyone is ready to witness the largest battle ever in the history of television. If you’re not hyped yet, know that the fight scenes in the upcoming episode of the show took 55 days to film.
Don’t think that’s much? To put that into context, the Battle of the Bastards took 25 days to film, and we all know how huge that was. Imagine, of this battle took almost twice as long to film, how much more intense will it be? Well, our imagination isn’t strong enough to comprehend that, and we’ll leave they to tomorrow’s episode. But, what about the events that will take place? As you might have seen, there are lots of wild fan theories going on right now. One of them seems to suggest that the Night King is not gong to arrive at Winterfell at all. Instead, he’ll go straight to King’s Landing.
But, how true is this? Could this actually happen? Well, it could happen. But I don’t think it will. We know that the White Walkers are completely sentient, unlike the Wights. So, they can lead the attack on Winterfell by themselves, if they have to. However, the biggest battle in the history of Game of Thrones will not feature the main antagonist? That’s something that we cannot swallow.
The Night King going down to King’s Landing without his army is stupid, and we all know how clever he is. Simply put, he cannot win the Battle of Winterfell if he takes his main army to King’s Landing. Either he takes his entire army to King’s Landing, or he takes them all to Winterfell first.
What’s likely going to happen is that the Night King will attack Winterfell, defeat the living, and then head towards King’s Landing. Those who survive the battle will likely retreat to either the Eyrie, Iron Islands, or Dragonstone. We’re pretty sure that the Night King won’t skip Winterfell.
