Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 update

Game of Thrones Season 8 premiered today, and it was everything I expected it to be. Well, that’s mostly because we covered the spoilers of the episode in explicit details, but even then, I thought this was a great build-up episode. I liked all the reunions we got to see, and the mystery symbols left by the Night King, who is now marching to Winterfell from the Last Hearth, were certainly very intriguing.

At Winterfell, everyone is preparing for a battle that’s to come, and I think that it is safe to say that the army isn’t prepared well at all. As Jon has pointed out several times now, he is doing all he can to protect the North. They don’t understand that and want him to stay King in the North. As we head towards the second episode now, Jon has found out about his true lineage, and Jaime Lannister is at Winterfell after many, many years.

So, let’s begin with the preview for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 now, shall we?

It is clear that Jaime is being questioned about his motives by the Mother of Dragons. Before that, he is likely going to speak to Bran, but I’m pretty sure that he’ll be baffled when he finds out that he doesn’t seem to care about that, at all. Daenerys has already met Jaime Lannister, so every bit of tension that we’ve seen in the trailer for the next episode is probably minor. It won’t escalate, and Jaime will likely be fine.

He’ll also tell the Northerners that Cersei isn’t sending any support. She expects them all to die there. We see a shot of Dany and Sansa discussing this in the preview, and they say that Cersei cannot be trusted. Jon is seen talking to Dany in the crypts, supposedly. I assume that he’s going to tell her about who he really is down there. Things don’t look too good for them for now.

He’s also not in the regular Stark armor anymore, which is weird to me, but maybe he’s just changed because he wanted to? I don’t know, but it definitely seems like something that he did because he found out about his true parentage.

Tormund and the brothers make it to Winterfell, and they tell Jon that the Army will arrive before morning, and they should all get ready. We see the battle preparations, and towards the end of the episode, the Army of Dead arrives at Winterfell.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 will air on HBO on Sunday, April 21, 2019.
