Well, this time we will be talking about the Man behind Hunter X Hunter, Yu Yu Hakusho and much other interesting manga he has worked on. Yes, it is the one and only Yoshihiro Togashi. Yoshihiro Togashi was born on 27 April 1966, so this makes him 53 years as of date. He was born in Shinjó, a city in the Northern Yamagata prefecture which is famous for being the end of the Shinkansen line. Yoshihiro married Naoko Takeuchi on January 6, 1999, who was also a Japanese Manga artist with several awards as well.  Naoko is popular for her Manga, Sailor Moon which had several successes and managed to won her distinctive awards.

Yoshihiro began drawing his Manga around his second year of elementary school as it had become a casual thing for him. Whilst he attended school and continued with this as a hobby, he was eventually noticed by the then-popular publishing company, Shueisha which is still one of the top publishers as of today. As he made his way to college, he was contacted by one of the editors from Weekly Shonen Jump and asked him to move to Tokyo.

At age 20, he authored his first Manga under the title Jura no Muzuki which attracted a lot of attention in Shueisha’s 1st annual Step Award Selection Magazine and was published in 1988. He published another Manga within the same year under the name Buttobi Straight and managed to win the Tezuka awards, which at the time was the most prestigious award for rookie Mangaka in Japan at the time.

Yoshiro continued to dominate the Manga industry in 1990 when he made a name for himself with his next series Yu Yu Hakusho which had several successes and ran from 1990 to 1994 producing a total of 174 chapters. This manga became so popular that it managed to sell over 50 million copies and earned him the Shokugan Manga award in 1994.

His career’s continuation saw him work on Hunter X Hunter next that had begun its serialization from 1998. It performed very well and this only added more glory to his careers when it sold over 55 million copies for its first 20 volumes in Japan only as of August 2011. In 2017, he worked on a two-chapter manga and had it published under the name Akuten Wars in November issues of Grand Jump Premium. In his next works, he featured Level E, a Sci-Fi manga that was then adapted into a television series. His other works included Ten de Shówaru Cupid, which was a 4 volumes romance manga. In 2008 Yoshihiro tied with Eiichiro Oda, One Piece creator, as the 5th favorite Manga artist on a poll that was hosted by Oricon.
