Fruits Basket Season 2 Episode 2 Recap
The students are being reminded to submit their career plans and a parent-teacher meeting after the summer breaks. Hanajima, Uo, Yuki, Kyo, and Tohru all decide to have lunch together on the school ground when Uo suggests to Tohru could marry either Yuki or Kyo instead of starting a career plan. Uo also announces that she met a guy at work whom she is quite fond of and says that she likes him because he is like Tohru. We see a quick glimpse of both the boys with worry on their faces about their future. Tohru & Kyo are invited for lunch at Kyo’s master Kazuma’s house, where he is seen burning lunch. Tohru offers to cook lunch for them when Kazuma gets a call from Kyo’s father.
Kazuma tells Kyo & Tohru that he needs to go out urgently and will be back soon. He meets Kyo’s real father-who is disgusted by Kyo since the Cat zodiac possesses him. Kyo’s father suggests that Kyo be put away in a pitch-black room as the cursed cat deserves. Kazuma stands up to Kyo’s father, disuses away all that as told about Kyo, and says how Kyo has changed and so he must do the same. Kazuma expresses how much he loves Kyo, and he will stand up for him against anyone. Kazuma went to his home, and the three of them have their late lunch. Yuki comes to pick up Tohru from work where they talked about their career plan while walking home. When Tohru gets home, she goes to the kitchen and finds Kyo preparing some Somen as he got hungry.
The two have a talks about their future where Kyo expresses that as the cat of the zodiac, the Soma family may not approve of him to take up Kazuma’s dojo or any other job. He wonders if he can ever have a normal life like others. He also tells Tohru that they are both similar because he knows she worries about her future too. So far, she has been living to impress her mom. This is when Tohru realizes that she worried about getting a job and making it on her own in the future. She starts crying, and She pretends that everything is okay so that she doesn’t have to deal with such feelings.
Kyo teases Tohru calling her a cry baby and says he is so used to her crying, when Shigure advice her and made reference to laundry, saying she shouldn’t worry about the bigger pile of laundry that’s up ahead (future), she should start by washing what’s below her feet(the present). And when worry stills find its way to her, she should take a break by reading a book, watching TV or eating Somen with her friends. Yuki also joins them for a late-night Somen.
