When the first teaser related to the movie was released, it made a lot of people question the movie and whether it would prove to be a good idea for a live-action movie. However, when the trailer of the movie was released, people changed their minds. Instead of calling the project a failure, they are now looking forward to seeing the movie.
The movie is being directed by Guy Ritchie, whose King Arthur was categorized as a flop. So, Ritchie will be hoping to get back to his best with Aladdin. The task isn’t going to be so easy but, from the trailer, it seems that we will have a good movie for ourselves.
The cast of the movie will have a huge task to perform at the highest level to make the movie a hit. In this day and age, if the movie is at least decent, it is still ripped to shreds by the critics and the fans alike. So, the cast needed to be picked wisely. Early on it was rumored that Tom Hardy was going to play the role of Jafar.
The announcement about the cast was made at the D23 Expo; it was revealed that Will Smith would be playing the role of the Genie. Ritchie explained his choice of casting Will Smith as the Genie. He said that he wanted someone who that looked like a formidable figure.
Mena Massoud has been confirmed as Aladdin, and Naomi Scott will play Jasmine in the movie. Marwan Kenzari would play the role of Jafar. Numan Acar is playing the right-hand man of Jafar, namely Hakim. Navid Negahban will play the role of the Sultan. Nasim Pedrad joined the cast as Jasmine’s handmaiden named Mara.
One of the decisions that came under heavy scrutiny was the decision to cast Billy Magnussen as a new character. Many people have said that this was uncalled for. The movie will be released on May 24, 2019. The filming for the movie was finished in January 2018.

Well, there is a lot going on right now, and the film might make things better for Disney who has not had a good year with live-action films this year. Dumbo made $100 million in the US, which was not too bad but not Disney standard at all. So, I think Disney has high hopes for Aladdin.
Recently, an early box office tracking report from Variety suggested that the film would get an opening of $80 Million, which is pretty impressive. One of the main reasons is the Memorial Day weekend release slot.
