The chilling remake of the Danish horror film Speak No Evil, produced by Blumhouse and Universal, is now available on Digital and Blu-ray. Next up, the film is set to make its streaming debut.
Speak No Evil will begin streaming exclusively on Peacock starting December 6.
Directed by James Watkins (The Woman in Black, Eden Lake), the remake stars Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate, Happiest Season) and James McAvoy (Split, Glass), alongside Scoot McNairy (Argo).
The story follows Americans Ben and Louise, who, after befriending a British couple with a mute son, accept an unusual invitation to spend a weekend with their daughter at the couple’s idyllic country estate.
However, the seemingly pleasant getaway takes a sinister turn as Ben and Louise uncover their hosts’ disturbing motives, leaving the family entangled in a horrifying plot.
James Watkins also penned the script for the film, adding to his already impressive horror resume.
In her review for Bloody Disgusting, Meagan Navarro praised Watkins and the cast for their dedication to the original film’s tone while noting the differences in the remake.
She wrote, “James Watkins, along with a game cast, stays faithful to the source material, for the most part, in this Americanized remake but opts for a much livelier third act that dials up the intensity.”
Navarro added, “Speak No Evil ultimately trades its potent messaging for a late summer thrill ride.”
