Bandai Namco recently released a new preview video for Tite Kubo’s manga: Burn The Witch. The visually stunning trailer offered a great sneak peek on the show’s premises and its two main characters. Alongside the trailer, the update and the location of the event’s premier has also been revealed. This marks Kubo’s first work to be animated after BLEACH aired its last episode back in 2012.
According to the Burn The Witch official website, the anime movie would be screened on October 2, 2020, primarily at the Shinjuku Prefecture and other 35 cinemas in Japan. It would be a two-week limited event and will also be available via exclusive distribution on Amazon Prime Video and Hikari TV. It is produced by Studio Colorido, the same studio that produced other anime films such as A Whisker Away and Penguin Highway.
If you’re living outside Japan, you don’t need to wait for too long to enjoy Kubo’s latest work. Fans outside Japan will also enjoy the same-day worldwide distribution via the Crunchyroll streaming services. Instead of one full movie, online viewers will have an exclusive 3-episode version of the film. Burn The Witch will be available on these following Crunchyroll regions: North and South America, Oceania, Europe, Middle East, and Africa.
Set in London, the story shows the daily life events of Noel Niihashi and Nini Spangle, who are witches working in an organization called the “Wind Bind”. Dragons, who were able to co-exist with humans for centuries, became the newest threat to society when they started attacking humans. It is the witches and the wizard’s duty to counter this threat and bring peace. Kubo released a one-shot chapter of the story at Weekly Shonen Jump last July 2018. With the following announcement of the anime release, a new 4-chapter version will also be serialized by the same magazine.
