Right from the beginning of 2019, fans knew that it was the year of One Piece. 2019 marks the 20th anniversary of the anime itself, and with just 5 months into this year, we’ve got an explosive end to the Whole Cake Island arc, and the announcement for a new One Piece movie, titled ‘Stampede’. All that’s great, but the biggest thing that fans have been waiting for is the Wano Country arc to finally begin.
We’ve been waiting for this arc to begin since the last 7-8 years now, maybe even more. To see it finally begin later this year is going to be incredible for any fan of the show, and it’s the same for me too. Earlier this year, we were told that Wano Country arc would begin in the Summer of 2019. Now, we have more updates on the arc and I’ll share them with you in this post. So, let’s get started!
Right now, the One Piece anime is in the Reverie arc. It’s almost over, and I think we’ll see it last up to One Piece Episode 888. After that, there is likely going to be a 3-episode filler arc, and some rumors suggest that it’s going to be the promotional material for One Piece: Stampede, which comes out in August 2019.
Once the fillers are over, we’ll see Wano Country arc commence with Episode 892 of the anime. The arc will begin airing in the anime from July 07, 2019. There are also going to be some great additions being made to the staff of One Piece from Wano onwards.
First of all, Tatsuya Nagamine, who has previously worked on Film Z and recently in DBS Broly, will be the new series director. Along with him, Kazuya Hisada will be replaced as the character designer.
We’ll also get a new One Piece opening from Episode 892, as Wano Country arc debuts.
