The Nike Air Max 1 Tokyo Maze is a sports shoe manufactured by American shoe giant Nike and designed by Yuta Takuman, the shoe embodies the designer’s enigmatic fresh energy and style. The Air Max 1 was one of its kind for it was the first sports shoe ever to feature a visible Air cushioning unit.
The design is inspiring as it showcases endless lines of bright colors that go from the heel to the tip. This pair of sneakers is entirely different in shoe design separating left from the right foot. The upper part of these shoes features embossed patterns; the left has a white base with black accents and the right shoe uses black as the base and white for line contouring. The shoelaces are rainbow-wash colored, with the Nike logo carefully embroidered to the tongue and a distinctive leather symbol running across the instep.
Yuta Takuman took inspiration from Tokyo’s endless maze-like streets and the iconic Tokyo Tower to put this design into life for Nike and for us to use. Last year Nike called upon many designers in New York, London, Paris, Shanghai, Seoul, and Tokyo to design their own Air Max 1 sneakers.
