The Witcher On Netflix: Production, Cast, And Updates
The Witcher is well known amongst the gamers of the world. Netflix is planning to turn it into a TV series. There are very high expectations from the show; it has been labeled as “the next Game of Thrones.” The series is based on the novel series by Andrzej Sapowski, which follow Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher with supernatural powers.
Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the showrunner for The Witcher. Lauren has worked on many popular series such as The Defenders, Daredevil, and Power. The production for the show started in October 2018. The show has some famous directors working on it, which includes Alik Sakharov and Charlotte Brandstrom.
The show is expected to be released in 2019. When? We don’t know that yet. But, it is assumed to be coming out in late 2019. We will keep an eye out on information regarding the release date.
Moving on to the cast. The cast of the show has some pretty famous people. Here is the cast:
Henry Cavill as Geralt
Freya Allan as Ciri
Anya Chalotra as Yennefer
Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe
Adam Levy as Mousesack.
Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist
Millie Brady as Princess Renfri
Eamon Farren as Cahir
Joey Batey as Jaskier
Lars Mikkelsen as Stregobor
Royce Pierreson as Istredd
Maciej Musiał as Sir Lazlo

Anna Shaffer as Triss.
The first season of the show will have eight episodes. Four of these episodes will be directed by Alik Sakharov (Game of Thrones), two will be done by Charlotte Brändström (Outlander) and another two directed by Alex Garcia Lopez (Daredevil).
However, it is still unclear which Schmidt Hissrich will adapt one of the books for the first season of the show. It will be interesting to see how this show pans out to be, but as a fan of the Witcher franchise, I am hoping that the series will be great.
