The DC Universe is responsible for creating the superhero world. We would still be unaware of this marvelous world if it were not for them. It has been several decades since the first DC comic, and they have developed the universe into series and films now. We all love adaptations of our favorite comics. All the heroes from the universe possess unique qualities and superpowers. Superman, DC’s superhero, is the most popular superhero of all time.
Someone who is not even a fan of the universe would recognize him. Not just it, DC villains are very darker and give us chills down the spine. DC universe that is more active in developing TV series now such as Naomi, DC’s legends of tomorrow, Batwoman, and Pennyworth has also created some of the most spectacular movies that are unforgetful. Here’s the list of best DC films for you to stream.
10. Birds Of Prey (2020)
Birds Of Prey is mostly about Harley Quinn. We get to how she thinks, her relationships, and how she is actually good by heart. This is not the finest performance by Margot Robbie, but still, the film has some surprising elements. In the film, she teams up with the local baddie, Cassandra Cain, in order to protect the diamond from a mobster. Quinn utterly enjoys all the destruction she causes. The film is female-centric and portrays how a female team is capable of fighting evil.
Available on HBO Max.
9. Batman Returns (1992)
This is the last Batman movie directed by Tim Burton. He had a somewhat different style of portraying Batman than other films that came later. Some people consider the movie comic in front of later installments of Batman. DeVito’s Penguin is entertaining and keeps you connected. Both Catwoman and penguin are unique characters. However, it seems that the film is rushing towards the end, and nobody gets their deserved time.
Available on HBO Max.
8. V For Vendetta (2005)
The credit for this film should go to the screenwriters and producers of the Wachowski siblings. Directed by James McTeigue, the film stars Natalie Portman in the lead role. Although it is not mentioned in the credits scene, the film is based on the 1988 DC Vertigo Comics limited series by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. The film follows the tale where masked V (played by Hugo Weaving) wants absolute freedom from the government and spreads revolution via terrorist acts. Natalie is caught up in his mission, and a detective is on a mission to stop him. The misguided militants will let the audience question their judgment.
Available on HBO Max.
7. The Suicide Squad (2021)
The team of DC’s anti-heroes teams up against a horrified beast that looks like Starfish and is known as Starro. The film indeed comes up as a compliment to Martin Scorsese’s direction. However, this film filled with adult humor and immense violence is suitable only for adults. The highlight of the film is definitely Harley Quinn. She is free and can do anything. The fans get to see what would happen if the villainous characters were allowed to roam free.
Available on HBO Max.
6. Joker (2019)
The film looks relevant and relatable. Unlike many DC films, it connects with other films and shows how Joker became such a horrifying character. We get to see his journey. Honestly, the film would not be this successful if Joaquin Phoenix was not in the lead role as Arthur Flake. Although there is nothing in the movie due to which the evil spread by him can be justified, it provides a totally different perspective for looking at him. Moreover, Phoenix won the SAG Award for his role and said, “I’m standing here on the shoulders of my favorite actor Heath Ledger.” Phoenix definitely portrayed a man who can turn into evil and deadly in “The Dark Knight.”
Available on HBO Max.
5. Superman (1978)
Superman is the first superhero we had, and this fact makes the film most special. Christopher Reeve played the character and him having the superpowers and being totally cool about it is the strength of the film. Later in one of his interviews, he stated, “He’s Superman on Earth only because he’s in a different solar system. If he’d grown up on Krypton, if Krypton had not been destroyed, he might have been average — nothing special about him. That allowed me to underplay the character and make him quite casual.” He is the wisest and warmest superhero. Director Richard Donner has done an incredible job with the film.
Available on HBO Max.
4. Superman 2 (1980)
Superman 2 tells the success story of the DC cinematic universe. It was 1980, and the film surprised the audience by giving them a superhero that they could relate to and crave to be like him. Although the film was scheduled to film with the first installment, it suffered some internal politics and battles. As a result, the director Richard Donner got replaced by Richard Lester. Richard had to take charge of the film mid-way and reshoot some of the scenes. However, on its release, nobody could say that the film faced any difficulty while making.

3. Wonder Woman (2017)
Wonder Woman is a satisfying film that brought DC back into the game. The film has very rarely seen a woman superhero, takes us to the times of war, and is a historical take. It will keep you connected till the end of the film, and you will yourself want some more of it. The film has made Gal Gadot a superstar, which she undoubtedly deserved. Her portrayal of Diana, A princess of Amazonia, gives us thrill and excitement. Also, she adds some humor while getting surprised at how male mortals behave around her. This woman knows how to fight and do romance. The film is so incredible that at the end, we end up craving for more of Wonder woman.
Available on HBO Max
2. Batman Begins (2005)
Batman Begins is an exciting, thrilling, and “can establish a connection with the audience” film. The credit for reliving the Dark Kight from the background of the DC cinematic universe goes to this film. Christopher Nolan has done fabulous work in telling the darker characteristics of the villainous characters. The film keeps you engulfed in both scenarios – when the hero is wearing the suit and when he is not. Batman Begins is one of the best origin stories.
Available on HBO Max.
1. The Dark Knight (2008)
Who is the best villain in the DC universe? It is the Joker. The character played by Heath Ledger will always be remembered as his best role. Unfortunately, the talented actor is not among us now, but the powerful performance he has given in “The Dark Knight” will stand against time. Undoubtedly the Joker in “The Dark Knight ” is the best to date and most horrible.
This film from the DC Cinematic universe received the most praise and love. Director Christopher Nolan has done justice with the film, and each shade, such as evil, heroism, and drama, was balanced in the film. The film has set the bar really high, and no film has since topped it.
Available on HBO Max.
