The Plot
Oohashi Rei, a tired office worker, meets an unexpected twist of fate as she’s reborn as Rae Taylor, the main character in her beloved otome game, Revolution. But Rae has her plans, steering clear of the game’s traditional romantic paths with the princes of the Bauer Kingdom.
Her sights are firmly set on Claire François, the game’s antagonist. Armed with foresight into the game’s impending turmoil, Rae is determined to rewrite Claire’s destiny and secure her a happy ending before the impending revolution shatters any hope of it.
The real question is: How will Claire, the villainous figure, respond to this unconventional courtship?
The manga adaptation of I’m in Love with the Villainess perfectly adapts the original light novels, emphasizing the humorous banter and endearing plots that steal the spotlight. Claire’s attempts to outwit Rae often backfire in hilarious ways, adding comedic relief.
The strongest element of the series is the refreshing take on romance, with Rae’s sincerity and Claire’s complex reactions forming a captivating narrative. If you’re a fan of light novels or new to the story, the manga adaptation is a must-read, giving us a light-hearted and humorous experience for those searching for a unique “Yuri” trope.
While the manga may not as detailed as the light novel, we hope the anime adaptation replicates the pacing and gives us an equally enjoyable experience as the manga has given us.
