Game developer Spicy Tails announced that a crowdfunding campaign is going to be launched on November 14 for the anime adaptation of its World End Economica visual novel. The third and final episode of the game debuted in 2013 and it is going to reveal the reason for starting the crowdfunding campaign at its launch. Sekai Project, visual novel publisher, released the first episode of World End Economica on Steam in 2014. A Kickstarter was launched in order to localize the second and third episodes.
The story has been described as follows:
Written by Isuna Hasekura, the author of Spice and Wolf, World End Economica is a three-part visual novel set in the far future on the moon, 16 years after humans have begun to colonize it. A young boy named Haru has been chasing his wildest dream — to stand where no man has stood before. To do so he needs capital… a ludicrous amount of capital. What better place to get that much money than by using the stock market?
The game’s announcement came back in 2016. Sekai Project confirmed that the game would be coming out for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017. The first episode of the game debuted in Japan in 2011, the second episode followed in 2012 and the third episode was released in August 2013.
