Review
A power-packed series focusing on three groups Armed Detective Agency, Port Mafia, and The Guild, who cross each other’s path in the city of Yokohama. Bungo Stray Dogs is a series with an adequate amount of story, action, and comedy. The plot and story are decent, and the series is more character-driven.
The pace of the show in the first season is rather slow, but it catches up by season 2, and season 3 is the best season of the show. You can say that theBungo Stray Dogs Series Review show has taken its sweet time to lay the foundation of the story, to introduce its characters really well, and give them their time to shine only from the beginning. Although you might think that by now you will drop the show and move on, well, here’s the catch, the show is really engaging. Meanwhile, it also has done a good job of being a bit mysterious, which hooks you to the show.
The various types of supernatural ability are the plus point in the show, which gives a refreshing aspect to the fight scenes where only magic and sword fights are not the only means to fight. Overall, the show is total entertainment with intense emotions, dynamic fights, and great chemistry between characters. Well, now that’s everything that makes it a must-watch!
Characters
Bungo Stray Dogs have converted your favorite Japanese authors (‘Bungo’ means ‘Author’ in Japanese) into some of the best characters of all time. The characters are named on famous authors, and the authors’ most famous works are shown as their abilities. The show has incorporated a lot of characters and focuses on the members of three major groups. Although the main character of the series is Atsushi Nakajima, however, he is the one who shines the least but catches up with other characters by season 2.
Every Character in the show has an equal responsibility for carrying the show. The most impressive feature of the characters is that they never fail to fascinate the audience. Some of the characters like Osamu Dazai and Nakahara Chuuya are the great comic relief of the show, and their relationship is quite likable. Osamu Dazai is one of the most important characters in the show. His relationship with Nakahara Chuuya and Sakunosuke Oda is important for developing the show and the characters themselves. The series has given great importance to character development and puts a lot of time, effort, and sacrifices into their development.
Art Style/Animation
The Art Style of the show is distinct and good. They have done a good job designing the characters, and a lot of attention is paid to minute details. The costume designs are also good, especially for the Port Mafia people. The animation is first-class, and there are hardly any loopholes.
Fight scenes are a feast for eyes, as there are so many characters with so many different abilities who come face to face with each other. The fight scenes are animated really well. The fight between Akutagawa and Atsushi has some dynamic action sequences and great colorwork. The background sceneries are also made well, and the color gradient for them looks perfect.
