The Plot
The ghostly Hanako-kun and his mortal assistant Nene Yashiro usually have their hands full resolving various supernatural incidents in Kamome Academy, but how do they spend their time when they get a break from all that? After-School Hanako-kun is here to show us what the characters of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun do on their laid-back afterschool days!
The plot of Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun follows Kamome Academy, where rumors circulate about the Seven Mysteries, including Hanako-san, who supposedly resides in the third stall of the third-floor girls’ bathroom in the old school building. Legend has it that Hanako-san can fulfill any wish when summoned.
Intrigued by the supernatural, Nene Yashiro, a high school girl with a fascination for the occult and romantic fantasies, dares to enter this supposedly haunted bathroom. However, to her astonishment, the Hanako-san she encounters is not the female spirit she expected, but rather a mischievous boy ghost, turning her expectations upside down.
Worth a Watch?
Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun is a refreshing escape from the topsy-turvy outside world with its supernatural charm and unexpected twists. Hanako, with his mischievous and curious nature, adds a playful and mysterious element to the story, contrasting with Nene’s sweet and naive personality.
The series is divided into story arcs, often revolving around the school’s seven mysteries, with a mix of supernatural elements and unexpected twists. But due to its 12-episode run, some content from the manga is omitted, leaving viewers wanting more.
Visually, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun stands out with its unique comic book art-like style, faithfully adapting the character designs and settings from the manga.
While it may appeal more to a niche audience, it confidently delivers a supernatural comedy that knows its strengths, making it a safe recommendation for anyone looking for a lighthearted and colorful escape, and we’re sure After-School Hanako-kun will do the same.
