Soon after Walter got arrested, he was sent to Alabama’s Death Row at Holman State Prison without proper investigation; he’s also denied for expressing his views. Judge using his power moved McMillian’s trail from Monroe County, which consisted of 40% Black to Baldwin County Consisting of 13% Black. As a result, the jury was all white except one person. The trial lasted for one and a half days to prove Walter guilty. The jury consisted of eleven whites and one Afro-American .”Guilty of the capital offense charged in the indictment” and made to agree on a sentence of life in prison for his uncommitted mistake.
The judge being white overruled the jury and made sure levied the most extreme punishment to Walter. The conviction was mostly based on the statement made by Ralph Myers, a white man who was arrested in connection with the Murder. Myers accused of Walter providing him with a ride to the cleaning shop the same day where the MurderMurder of the 18-year-old girl took place. After six years in investigating the case with multiple testimonies and evidence from the witness, Bryan has fought a long way to prove his client not guilty.
