It’s been 3 years since Kyoto animation announced the anime adaptation of a novel that was supposed to be produced, but alas got postponed because of the Kyoto Animation arson attack. 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku is a Japanese Light Novel written by Yuki Hiroshi and Illustrated by Kazumi Ikeda and Momoka Nagatani for arts and backgrounds. The title translates as “20th Century Electricity Catalog”. The novel was published under Kyoto Animation’s KA Esuma Bunko imprint on the 10th of August, 2018.
20 Seiki Denki Mokurokus won an award on 8th Kyoto Animation Awards for the novel won an honorable mention in the full-length novel category and the only series to win an award in 2017.
KA Esuma Bunko announced on Twitter an anime adaptation of the novel and would be animated by Kyoto Animation. However, further information is still unknown because of Kyoto’s Animation Arson Attack as it destroyed the main production office.

Plot
The time is the Meiji era. Kyoto, Japan, has just entered the 20th century.
Inako, who always fails and relies on God and Buddha, and Kihachi, who denies God and Buddha and boasted that it is the age of electricity. At first, the two did not bite each other, but the situation changed completely with Inako’s marriage story. The only way to stop Inako’s marriage is to find the bizarre book “Denki Catalog.” Inako and Kihachi run around the land of Kyoto and Shiga.

Inako Momokawa
Inako grew up as the second daughter of Momokawa Sake Brewery in Fushimi, Kyoto. She has a pure and lively personality but often fails and is always disapproved by her father, Jinemon. She was looked at as a person opposite to her sister, who could do anything. Believe in the gods and Buddha, and when something goes wrong, go to Fushimi Inari’s Akubi Yawn Daimyojin. “Belief is the deal” is a habit. The only mousetrap with bare hands is second to none.
Kihachi Sakamoto
Kihachi Sakamoto is a 15-year-old boy who works at the Horai Horai Buddhist altar shop on Shinkyogoku Street and loves electricity, which why he is also in charge of mechanical repairs. At the 5th National Industrial Exhibition held in Osaka, he was fascinated by the machines of the near future powered by electricity and became interested in electricity. Believing that the 20th century is the century of electricity, he wrote the “Denki Catalog,” which delusions the invention of electricity in the future.
Kihachi doesn’t trust the gods and Buddha, which is why he got into an argument with his father and leaves the house.
