The plot of Insomniacs After School
The anime centers on two sleep-deprived teenagers who develop a friendship while hiding out at their school’s astronomical observatory. A grumpy and disliked student among his peers is Ganta Nakami. He frequently can’t sleep at night and finds the astronomical observatory at his school.
However, because of what happened to the astronomy club members, the observatory is no longer in use. He runs and meets another insomniac who thinks the observatory would be the ideal place to take a nap. Isaki Magami, who also has trouble sleeping, is open to sharing the observatory with him.
People from the school stay away from the observatory because of the shady stories surrounding it. But for the two, it turns into a haven where they can rest. Unfortunately, the school does not permit much usage of the observatory. But it’s feasible that the two will be able to make the observatory their new home if they can start a new astrology club.
Author Ojiri’s Statement
Previously, Author Ojiri released a statement after the release of the first trailer in June 2022. he said that he is not used to working on anime adaptations, so this is a new experience for him, Nevertheless, he would continue to be astounded by how much the production team cared about the original work because they made sure to include all of its key elements in the script.
It seems as though Gen Sato, who plays Ganta, and Konomi Tamura, who voices Isaki, both completely captured the characters’ voices as he had imagined them while he was writing the script. The plot is set in Noto, which has stunning scenery, especially Nanao City in Ishikawa Prefecture. And, now, he is eager to witness the new vibe that director Ikeda and his young, new staff will express.
