Freeform TV show Shadowhunters will air conclusion of Season 3 in the coming week. The question that is haunting fans of the show more than anything is whether Freeform is airing the conclusion episode, as in the finale episode of the final season. If that is it, why? And most importantly, what will fourth season hold for us, if at all there’s one.
Showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer recently dished out on Season 4 saying that they discussed storylines beyond season 3. These storylines will deal with Magnus (Harry Shum Jr) and Alec (Matthew Daddario). According to them, Dark Magnus was going to be the epicenter of things and a very big part of season 4. Precisely that was exciting for both the showrunners and fans as it would have been Alec to bring him back from the dark side. They also had envisaged Jonathan Morgenstern (Luke Baines) to be a huge presence in the show.
Jonathan, as usual, would have taken a bigger screen space and he would be worse than usual. There are dark parts of him that would come out.
The thing about Luke Baines character is that he was just getting started and that was so hard for him. According to Todd, Luke was very talented, and there were so many more stories to tell of him.
So anyway, the point is that Season 3 is going to be the end of it all for Shadowhunters. Fans are having a hard time getting their head around it, but nothing can be done. That, of course, doesn’t stop them from campaigning to save the show.
Shadowhunters airs for the last time on Monday in the US on Freeform and is available to watch on Netflix in the UK.
