Most of you will agree to the fact that ‘The Seven Deadly Sins,’ which is based on the Japanese manga, ‘Nanatsu no Taizai’ is one of the best fantasy adventure anime we can look forward to on Netflix. There are no anime lovers who are not acquainted with the show’s title, at the very least. With the mainstream success it is getting, the viewers browse to look for animes sharing a similar theme and plot. Here are our top nine shows you can look forward to if you loved ‘The Seven Deadly Sins.’

The story revolves around a group of mighty criminals known as ‘The Seven Deadly Sins,’ who had tried to bring down the Kingdom of Liones. Although the Holy Knights succeeded in scattering them, they were still trying to capture each one of them. After about ten years, Elizabeth, the princess of the kingdom, flees in search of the Seven Deadly Sins, after knowing that it is the Holy Knights trying to overthrow the kingdom, while The Seven Deadly Sins were only trying to protect them. The princess puts her life in danger to find them and works with them to save the entire kingdom from the Holy Knights’ clutches.

 

Although the anime plot is quite basic, the way it has been executed forms the base of the fame, it is receiving. It features dense, detailed forests, historic fortresses, and other wonderful fantasy gimmicks, which is not exceptional. Still, the interesting part is the way these elements have been used as the story progresses. The show forms a connection with the spectators with its characters’ help, making this show a worth-watching one.

‘Hunter X Hunter’ and ‘The Seven Deadly Sins’ both have been set in expansive fantasy worlds driven by ambitious young protagonists. Although Gon from ‘Hunter X Hunter’ seems to be more of a person with magical dreams than those of Melodas from ‘The Seven Deadly Sins,’ by the end of the story, each of the two characters happens to share a powerful sense of reason and are dedicated to fulfilling their dreams.

The anime, ‘Hunter X Hunter, ‘is set in a fantasy world, with several monsters and various mythical creatures alive out there. The protagonist of the series, Gon Freecss, the son of a well-known hunter, goes missing while he is venturing out. He soon realizes that his father is not dead, and he determines to look for him. The only obligation is that he will have to become a professional hunter before doing so.

This anime is on the list because both the shows are blessed with a young but ambitious protagonist, sharing blond hair. The protagonist of ‘The Seven Deadly Sins,’ Meliodas, is portrayed as the overpowered leader, whereas, in ‘Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood,’ Edward Elric is the youngest state alchemist of all time. Although they appear to be similar on the surface, they are different from each other if we consider their premises. The latter focuses on the story of two brothers who try to carry out a human transmutation but end up creating chaos. To fix the mistake caused by their actions, the two brothers set out on a voyage to search the Philosopher’s Stone.

Both The Seven Deadly Sins’ Elizabeth and Dragon Ball’s Bulma venture out on a mission to seek something— while Bulma goes out to find the seven Dragon Balls, to let her wishes be fulfilled, Elizabeth aims to find the Deadly Sins. As the story progress, Bulma comes across a strong kid Goku, while Elizabeth meets Meliodas, an overconfident young boy. However, the major cast of Dragon Ball is restricted only to the two characters, which contradicts the other anime, other than which, the storyline of both the anime is quite similar.

Princess Yona’s character from Akatsuki no Yona is close to that of The Seven Deadly Sins’ Elizabeth. She was hurled to the ground as well to look after her own self, from where Hak appears to save her, just as Meliodas comes to save Elizabeth. Both the female protagonists share a strong personality and refuse to surrender even during toughest situations. They bear a striking similarity with each other, except that the characters and the overall setup of the animes are a little different.

The story of Akatsuki no Yona is about Princess Yona, who, after getting exiled from her very own kingdom, learns to survive in a tough environment with her allies, and even a battle, despite being bought up in a luxurious and pleasant surrounding. She doesn’t give up until the very end and aims to overthrow the king to get her kingdom back.

Both the shows’ protagonists are very alike— Meliodas and Arata never fail to grab an opportunity to flirt with other female characters of the show. Although both seem to be very perverted on the surface, the characters are very ambitious in protecting the world by defeating all the opponents. They are assisted by their own team of seven possessing similar magical skills.

Compared to most of the shows present in this list, Trinity Seven has a lighter aspect, which revolves around a boy bearing Arata Kasuga, who almost has to face death after his town gets wrecked. A lot of serious things happen after the event, because of which he is bound to get admitted to a famous magic school called the Royal Biblia Academy, where he meets the Trinity Seven. They are extraordinary girls with unique powers and abilities who work with Arata Kasuga to protect the world from the powerful threats lying ahead of them.

Rokka no Yusha and The Seven Deadly Sins are quite similar if we look from the characters’ perspective. There are various characters present in both the anime blessed with unique skills. The protagonist from ‘Rokka no Yusha,’ Aldet, is just like Meliodas, who is overconfident in nature if his abilities are considered. Moreover, both the anime have their team of heroes fighting against each other initially, but later battle in unison when they come across the real powerful third-party opponent.

The story of Rokka no Yusha focuses on Aldet, who regards himself to be the strongest man in the world, and Nashetania embarks on a voyage to fight with the evil Demon Lord, followed by the six selected Braves from the Six Flowers. However, the group’s peace is ruined when a seventh member intrudes in, causing rifts between the other members of the team. Aldet should deal with the situation and find out about the intruder before his group’s unity begins to descend.

‘Soul Eater’ focuses on Soul Eater Evans’s life, who ventures out with his friends to gather the souls of evil beasts and witches to save their City and become a Death Scythe as well. The anime has gained a lot of claim from the critics and the spectators, owing to its amazing sense of humor and top-rated action. Though Evans serves as the show’s main protagonist, each member of his group stands out in their own way, with their personalities, bringing something different to the story.

 

Again, both the shows— The Seven Deadly Sins and Soul Eater, share a common background, where a group of strong individuals is determined to battle against the evil forces trying to take over the kingdom. The action scenes performed in each of the shows are intense enough for you to be at the edge of your chair every time you watch it.

Anyone who is a big fan of anime must have seen Akame ga Kill. The plotline is basically about a group of people fighting to have several to protect their city from an evil and corrupt ruler. In the beginning, the characters with diverse personalities suffer to go along well with each other, however, eventually, the clashes fade, and they learn to work together in unison. Moreover, the antagonists featured in both shows are vicious rulers who must be overthrown by a group of protagonists.

The show is basically about a group of slayers who are determined to disclose their prime minister’s evil motives, who seem to scheme against his own town. The leader of the group, Tatsumi, has to undergo massive transformation, challenging his own morals and beliefs while trying to find more information on his empire. Several intense battles are a part of the show where Akame, along with the Night Raid, strives hard to save the world.

Superficially, the show Fairy Tail is flavoured with a lighter tone than The Seven Deadly Sins and has a story highlighting the relationships that the characters share. Although the overall premise and the setup are totally different, the place where the two shows meet is the underlying theme of the two stories, focusing on true friendship and their perseverance to never give up.

The characters from both the shows keep you hooked throughout the time, creating an attachment with them. Those who enjoyed the show, ‘The Seven Deadly Sins,’ must keep this anime on their watch list.
