Jamtara is based on the eponymous Jharkhand village, the plot of this deals with locals involved in phishing scams. The show is out on January 10, 2020. It is marketed as ‘Jamtara: Sabka Number Aayega.’
The story is about an eponymous village in the state of Jharkhand, India, officially known as India’s phishing capital. The series is helmed by Amit Sial (Inside Edge), Sparsh Shrivastav (Shake It Up), Dibyendu Bhattacharya (Dev.D), Aksha Pardasany (Devdas), Monika Panwar (Super 30), and Anshuman Pushkar (Kapow). Jamtara has a huge ensemble cast. It is directed by National Award-winning director Soumendra Padhi and is inspired by true incidents.
According to Netflix, Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega is billed to “capture the risks of the internet, the cocktail of opportunity and motivation that lead ordinary people into the world of crime”.
The series is created by Viacom18 Studio’s digital content arm Tipping Point. In addition to the aforementioned six, the fictionalized true-crime series will drop on Netflix in India in January 2020.
The official synopsis of Jamtara puts it as a story inspired by true incidents. It is the tale of young, ambitious, people who despite having the world before them, landed into troubles. Masterminds and cousins are the highlights of the series. They are Sunny and Rocky, with their friends, quietly they operate a phishing scam from the small village of Jamtara.
As news reports about the scam throw the village into the limelight, now suddenly, everyone wants in on the game.
