In this current season, we saw Interim Superintendent Jason Crawford order the Intelligence Unit and Hank Voight to use a beta version of facial recognition software, in order to nab that week’s culprit. This was a man who had blood of two young boys on his hands. And so, Detective Jay Halstead will not stop at anything, especially after having discovered the boys’ bodies. He is determined to catch the killer no matter what happens. As the face recognition software spells out a name with more than 99% accuracy, Halstead is knee-deep in getting Marcus West, to confess.
In an unfortunate incident, West died from the injuries. As Halstead booked him in county hoping to get a confession out of him, his injuries proved fatal. Halstead is in a pickle, but Voight and Crawford have a plan. They plan to dump the murder charge on West, to save Hal. But, they will also let the young boys’ relatives to enact their own revenge on the actual culprit.
