Gears Tactics is an upcoming game for Xbox One and PC which will be releasing on 28 April 2020. The game was first revealed at E3 2018 before it went dark but now it returned on this year’s Game Awards. The game will be a turn-based tactical spin-off from the Gears of War series and also will be a single-player only game. Furthermore, there will be no cosmetic microtransactions in this game.
The news was revealed by Rod Fergusson, studio head at Gears developer The Coalition, who tweeted it out after being asked for details. In that tweet, he said, “For those asking, #GearsTactics is a single-player and has no microtransactions. Not even cosmetic ones. Everything is earned in the game.” As for any Gears of War fans know, the game had a multiplayer focus, with co-op and competitive modes available in the shooters, including the recent Gears 5.
Gears will be the first single-player only Gears game. The game will have numerous paid cosmetic items, but in Tactics, players won’t have the option of spending additional money. There are going to be plenty of customization options but in order to unlock them, you will have to play the game. As for the length of the campaign, Gears Tactics promises a 40-hour campaign and is set before the original Gears of War.
