Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 was the most ambitious episode in the history of TV and Film and to say that it lived up the expectations would be an understatement. For me, the episode blew everyone expectation that I had set in my mind, and I’m glad that it did.
Of course, as we all know, the living won over the Dead in this episode of Game of Thrones, but there was a considerable price to be paid. Lots of characters died, and although some would argue that the main ones didn’t, just know that there are still three more episodes to go, and lots of characters will die as we move forward. Anyway, let’s talk about the characters who died in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3, titled the ‘The Long Night.’
The first casualty was Qhoro, from Daenerys’ Khalasar. He was with Jorah when they led the charge at the Army of the Dead, and he didn’t survive. When the dead closed in on the left flank, Dolorous Edd was the next one to fall. Samwell Tarly almost died, but thanks to his luck, he ended up living.
Moving on, we then saw Lyanna Mormont die after the dead broke into Winterfell. She fought and slew a Giant, but in the process, she lost her life as well. Beric Dondarrion was the next person to fall. He died saving Arya Stark, and he finally completed his purpose and this time, he wasn’t brought back by the Lord of Light.
At the Godswood, Arya snuck up to the Night King, and as he grabbed her and was about to kill her, her little knife trick was enough as she thrust the Valyrian steel blade into his heart and he died, along with all the White Walkers and the other members of the Army of the Dead.
Jorah, who was busy defending his Queen from wights, fell after he realized that the War was won. He drew his last breath and then died. Finally, Melisandre’s purpose was completed, and she too fell at the end of the Great War, just as she had promised.
