The details on the new project of Benioff and Weiss have been revealed. It will be a film that is based on the graphic novel Lovecraft by Hans Rodionoff and Keith Giffen, which was inspired by the monstrous visions of H.P. Lovecraft. The duo behind Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are on their next project. This duo has signed on to produce Lovecraft, a new horror-thriller for Warner Bros.
This project will be adapted from the graphic novel by Hans Rodionoff and artist Keith Giffen, which imagines a world in which the monsters dreamed up by horror writer H.P. Lovecraft existed in real life. Lovecraft is a renowned man that was praised for his innovation in horror fiction which developed a sub-genre that came to known as ‘Lovecraftian horror’ and his best-known works include At the Mountain of Madness and The Call of Cthulhu.
Rodionoff and Giffen’s graphic novel takes place in the 1920s and it features a lot of tentacled monsters. Warner Bros bought the rights to the graphic novel around three years ago and now has moved to the project into the next stages of development.
Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi will be writing the script for the film, who has previously worked with filmmaker Karyn Kusama, the director behind Aeon Flux and this year’s Nicole Kidman-starring thriller Destroyer. The update for this Lovecraft hasn’t been revealed but production is expected to begin next year.
