‘The Last Of Us’ TV Adaptation By HBO Approved – Who Should Play Joel And Ellie?

Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us is finally coming to the television scene. Recently, HBO announced that it is picking up the popular video game series as one of its official line-ups in the future. Who will be the showrunner of this series? When will the release date be? And who would be cast as Joel and Ellie? Let’s find out!

The Last Of Us – Upcoming TV Adaptation

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the man who will be leading this adaptation is Craig Mazin, who is also the man who created the historical drama, Chernobyl. It was revealed that the series will cover the events from the first The Last Of Us game, which was released in 2013 by Naughty Dog for the Sony PlayStation 4 console.

Everyone knows how game adaptations can sometimes be disassociated with its original source (like Assasin’s Creed, Double Dragon, and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation). This might be because of the lack of supervision by people who are directly involved in the making of the adaptation. But for The Last Of Us series, Creative Director Neil Druckmann is reported with Mazin in the adaptation. They will be joined by Carolyn Strauss and Naughty Dog President, Evan Wells.

Fans are already suggesting their picks on who will be playing Joel and Ellie. For Joel, some of the actors that fans suggest are Oscar Isaac (who played Poe Dameron on Star Wars Resistance), Hugh Jackman (who played Wolverine in several X-Men film), and Nikolaj Coster Waldau from Game of Thrones. As for Ellie, the choices include Dafne Keen (from Logan) and Ellen Page, in which, as a lot of fans have noticed, has a lot in common with the female protagonist.

The Last Of Us is a survival-horror game that shows the journey of a smuggler named Joel and a teenager Ellie as they tried to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. A certain fungus called Cordyceps had infected the majority of the human population, which makes the victim hostile and cannibalistic. As of now, there is still no release date for the HBO series. However, the second installation of the game, The Last Of Us Part II, will be out this month.
