Kadokawa’s Comic Alive magazine announced that the takt op. project by Bandai Namco Arts and DeNA will receive a new manga titled “Takt op. Bara no Dangan (Kuchidzuke) de Utte!” The manga, illustrated by Ika Nakaya with Aya Takaha credited for the story, is set to debut on the Comic Alive+ manga website on July 27! This prequel manga delves into the world’s first Musicart, “Ode to Joy,” and is based on the smartphone game “takt op. Symphony (takt op. Unmei wa Akaki Senritsu no Machi o).
Takt Op. is a unique “mixed-media project that revolves around classical music,” jointly created by Bandai Namco Arts and DeNA. The project includes a Japanese RPG for smartphones titled “Takt Op. Unmei wa Akaki Senritsu no Machi o,” which was available for pre-registration in March 2021.
Originally slated for a 2021 release, the game faced delays, pushing its launch to 2022 and eventually to 2023. After a successful beta test in April 2023, the game is finally set to be released on June 28th! An anime series was also released, titled “Takt Op. Destiny,” and was produced by MAPPA and Madhouse. The anime series aired from October to December 2021.

Takt Op. Destiny Anime Series
The anime series “Takt Op. Destiny” was announced as part of a project and was produced by MAPPA and Madhouse. Directed by Yūki Itō, with Kiyoko Yoshimura handling the scripts and Yoshihiro Ike composing the music, the series featured original character designs by LAM, adapted by Reiko Nagasawa for the anime.
Takt Op. Destiny aired from October to December 2021, on TV Tokyo and its affiliates, with Crunchyroll licensing the series outside of Asia and Medialink securing the rights for Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Oceania (excluding Australia and New Zealand).
The opening theme, “Takt,” is performed by Ryo from Supercell, with Mafumafu and gaku, while the ending theme, “Symphonia,” is by Mika Nakashima. In 2022, Crunchyroll announced that the series would receive an English dub, which premiered the next day.
The Plot of Takt Op. Destiny
In the chaotic United States, the D2s, an invasive species from a black meteorite, have created mayhem and aim to erase music from the world, as music is the only thing that can destroy them. In 2047, this situation still stands, and humanity’s only defense lies in Musicarts, young women embodying classical music, and their Conductors.

Amidst D2-infested lands and dangerous challenges, the trio faces uncertainty as they race toward their destination. Will they make it to New York City alive? The main cast of the anime includes Koki Uchiyama voicing Takt Asahina, Shion Wakayama voicing Cosette Schneider, and Kaede Hondo voicing Anna Schneider.
Alongside a diverse cast of characters, each with their unique musical abilities and dreams, Takt must navigate the perilous journey ahead, discovering the true potential of his gift and the deep connection between music, magic, and the soul.
