Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway New Teaser, Release Moved to 2021

Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway is a trilogy film series based on a novel of the same name by Yoshiyuki Tomino. It was announced that the story would get animated into a three-part movie release. Hence, the first film was produced by the Sunrise Studio, and they scheduled it to release in July 2020. However, the film was never released due to the pandemic restrictions. The youtube channel for the franchise releases a fresh trailer for the film and the new release date for the film. It is now coming to Japanese theaters on May 7, 2021.

Gundam is one of the oldest and most popular anime series in Japan that started in 1979. It has received countless TV and film franchises since then, and the latest Hathaway franchise remains among the most anticipated film series among the fans. The central concept of the Mobile Suit Gundam has remained the same. A group of freedom fighters, teen boys, control Gundam suits, which are heavy-duty fighting machines. The original anime was about a space war started by Zeon on the rest of the world. Most of the world forces were destroyed because Zeon used the superior technology of Gundam Suits to pin down all the opposing forces. Our main protagonists are the White Base Members opposing the atrocities of the Zeon forces.

Forty Years Later, the Hathaway novels start in U.C. 105, bringing a new story to the franchise. Twelve years after the War, the Earth federation faces the terrorist threat from Mufti. Hathaway is the prominent leader of the organization, going by the name Mufti Nabiyy Erin. He starts his aggressive stance against the Earth Federation employing the  RX-105 Ξ Gundam. In response, the Earth federation also prepares a reply.

Shūkō Murase will direct the three films for the Hathaway franchise, and Yasuyuki Mutou wrote the scripts. Hiroyuki Sawano will act as the composer for the music featured in these movies. While the first film is delayed, fans expect these movies to be satisfying, and they are highly anticipating the trilogy as it releases over the next few years. Further production for the later films will only start after the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under some control.

Gundam franchise celebrated its 40th-anniversary last year. Hathaway Novels were written thirty years ago, and the creator, Tomino, was pleased that they were adapted to feature in the theatres after so long. Tomino also added that the world had not developed as much as he had hoped back then, but the fans can enjoy the themes projected in his stories and find how it applies to society.
