Virgin River is a web TV series that is based on the Virgin River novels which was written by Robyn Carr. The show first premiered on Netflix on 6 December 2019. It follows the story of Melinda “Mel” Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a nurse practitioner in the remote California town of Virgin River thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind.
But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home. The cast of the show consists of Alexandra Breckenridge as Melinda “Mel” Monroe, a nurse practitioner who recently moved to Virgin River. Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan, a local restaurant bar owner, and former U.S. Marine who suffers from PTSD.
Colin Lawrence as John “Preacher” Middleton, who is a close U.S. Marine friend of Jack who works as the chef at Jack’s Bar. Jenny Cooper as Joey Barnes, Melinda’s older sister. Lauren Hammersley as Charmaine Roberts, Jack’s friends with benefits. Annette O’Toole as Hope McCrea who is the mayor of Virgin River and lastly Tim Matheson as Vernon “Doc” Mullins, MD, the local physician.
The show was received very well by the audience that in December 2019 the series was renewed for a second season. Furthermore, the filming for the second season began on 9 September 2019 and ended on 17 December 2019. The second season will have a total of 10 episodes. As for the update, Netflix revealed to Deadline that the second season will be premiering sometime in 2020.
