Academy Award Winner Jared Leto, known for his roles in movies ranging from Fight Club, American Psycho, Dallas Buyers Club for which he won the award, and much more recently on an interview with Variety, compared his character from the upcoming thriller “The Little Things” to the DC’s very own Joker. The actor had a lot to say about the character’s dark, mysterious persona by comparing it to the time he worked for DCEU’s iteration of Joker, calling the characters very much similar in nature. The actor also stated that it is fun to work with Zack Snyder and teased plans on reprising Joker’s character.

In the upcoming movie “The Little Things,” Jared Leto plays the role of  Albert Sparma, a mysterious local from the town who may or may not be the serial killer the characters of Denzel Washington and Rami Malek are looking for. While on an interview with Variety Awards Circuit Podcast, Leto revealed how he initially wasn’t interested in the project. He has explored this territory a lot and wanted to do something different. He further explained that the conversation he had with “The Little Things” director John Lee Hancock changed his mind and referred to working with Denzel Washington and Rami Malek, this is an opportunity he believed he shouldn’t miss. Now that he has finished this project, he stated that it was an absolutely amazing experience.

Jared Leto further explained that even after winning an Oscar, he still gets easily intimidated by his talented co-stars, especially with Denzel Washington’s likes. He jokingly explained that he might refer to Denzel Washington as Mr. Washington instead of Denzel even today. Jared Leto explained that he has a lot of respect for Denzel Washington and states that it’s not easy to do whatever the iconic actor has done in his every movie.

Jared Leto further talked about his run as the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad and explained how both Joker from DC Comics and Albert Sparma from The Little Things are quite similar in nature. Jared Leto went on to say that there are characters that have no rules at all, referring to both Joker and Sparma as out of the box. Leto further stated that Sparma says whatever he thinks and it’s still surprising to hear. It’s quite playful, and Leto finds the character funny sometimes. Leto also added that the character could be a good guy or a bad guy, but he will mostly be a fun guy.

Well, we all know about the buzz Zack Snyder’s upcoming revisioned version of Justice League is creating. After years of teasing, a petition from fans, and finally support from the original film cast and crew, Justice League Snyder cut’s arrival was announced by Warner Bros. for HBO Max in 2021. With many things added to the upcoming revisioned version of Justice League, including the likes of re-animation, in-depth storylines, and Of course, we repeat it Darkseid, reports of Joker being part of the movie also flourished the internet in October.

During an interview with TheFilmJunkee, even Zack Snyder explained how he planned to write a comic and how Joker would have been the part of his cut for the Justice League. During the interview with Variety, Leto was asked about the other topics, including him working with Snyder to reprise the character of Joker, to which Leto unwillingly replied that he heard the rumors too and plans to work with the Justice League director.

Jared Leto stated that he may or may not have shot something with Snyder for the cut, but he loves the director and believes he is an incredible filmmaker. Jared Leto further stated that he shares great chemistry with the Justice League director and looks forward to working with him.

At the end of the day, Jared Leto reprising the role of Joker is something DC fans have been wanting to see as they believe 2016’s Suicide Squad did not do justice to the character that has been a pop-culture phenomenon since Heath Ledger iterated Joker in The Dark Knight (2008). Even the director of Suicide Squad, David Ayer, expressed how much of the scenes featuring the Joker were removed from the theatrical cut and how the character was not expressed extensively. The success of Justice League’s Snyder Cut may give hope to a director’s cut of Suicide Squad, too, which Jared Leto himself, along with Zack Snyder and David Ayer, is supporting.

Moreover, we are set to see Jared Leto in the upcoming John Lee Hancock Directed, “The Little Things,” which will be arriving on 29th of January 2021 in both theatres and on HBO Max as well. The movie features Rami Malek and Denzel Washington as two cops hunting down a serial killer on the verge of a killing spree while also suspecting the mysterious local played by Jared Leto, who may or may not be the one in the dark and gritty trailer.
